Hello Everyone,
Wow, what another great week. Especially since it was Stake Conference. How wonderful it was to be able to see people that I haven't seen in over a year! It was like a great family reunion. The work is progressing and Elder Hughes is doing much better. Thank you for your thoughts and your prayers.
Monday evening, after we delivered the Birthday Cheesecake to the member, which she loved so it was a success, we went and taught Erica and Irma and had a nice lesson with them. Things go slowly with Erica but they progress little by little.
Tuesday we did an exchange with the Elders from Avignon. I had a bit of a scare because I thought I lost Elder Adams, a brand new missionary,in the train station in Aix going to pick him up but after a lot of searching I found him thankfully. We started the morning with studies, because he has to do a lot more now with the new program for new missionaries and then we went to institute because Jinane was coming for the lesson. She really enjoyed and then we headed back to eat and then went to see Pilar. Well Pilar was a bit over thirty minutes late but thankfully the member who was helping us was kind and patient. We actually had a really great lesson on the restoration and then after, the member offered Pilar a blessing to help her with all of her struggles and it was truly a beautiful blessing. After that, we then went to a couple lessons that were fixed but the people weren't there so we ended up coming in to finish Elder Adams' studies for the day, it was a pretty good day.
Wednesday was an interesting day. We finished our exchange and then we went to lunch with a member and one of their friends. Then we did some contacting and so forth until English class and then again went to do with a member and one of their friends. The friend isn't a member and has a lot of interests and questions about the church so it was really good, but it was kind of a long day.
Thursday we had our District Meeting in the morning, which went really really well. Afterwards we had several lessons fixed and set up and then they got cancelled at the last minute. So we were stuck with contacting and pass backs, etc. It happened to be the year anniversary mark for Elder Hughes on his mission so we went with the Zone Leaders in the evening to eat at the Mexican Food restaurant. It was not to be able to celebrate a little bit for him.
On Friday we had to go to the hospital for a check up for Elder Hughes, thinking it was the last time but we have to go back again in two weeks just to make sure that it is continuing to progress. We then went and taught Jinane and had a great lesson! It started out that she was supposed to teach us abaout faith but she hit a little road block so we took over after she didn't know what else to say. It was really great and then later she even told me that she really enjoyed it. We then went in and hurried to the church because we had a lesson fixed there but it was kind of sketchy so he didn't show up, thankfully we brought some food to eat lunch and then headed to Insitute to teach Sero. We had a good lesson with him and he is progressing well, it is just a little bit slow because he doesn't have a lot of time for the moment, but he is still doing well. We then went out and did some contacting with Kim, a recent convert who wanted to try it out, and it was really good for us and for her. We then headed back for our young adult institute meeting and then went and taught Erica and Irma and had a good conversation about the Book of Mormon.
Saturday, we were so excited because we had 5 lessons set up and we were going to have 7 new investigators if the lessons worked. By about 12:15; all but two lessons were either cancelled or the person didn't show up... It was a little disappointing. We had another one where he wasn't home but we did some contacting and were able to have a lesson with Pilar and then had a lesson with a new investigator named Antonio, and it was a really good lesson too. We then headed in for the evening.
Sunday was a great day because we got to go to Nice for Stake Conference!! I felt like I knew at least half of everybody who was there and there were tons of people!! The chapel was full and they even had to open up some other rooms to transmit it to. It was great. I saw Jocelyne, who got baptized in Toulon and she is planning on going to the temple in April!! She is so excited and it was wonderful to hear her progress and how she is doing. Of course I was able to talk with tons and tons of other members as well, it was incredible. By the time we got back to Aix it was 6 in the evening and we had weekly planning and I had phone calls to make to the District. So it was quite a good day and a great way to end the week.
It was truly a wonderful week and I hope that all of you have had a great week as well. I love you all very much and pray for you daily. Have a great week! Au revoir!
Elder Kirkpatrick
